Most people in America have heard of Pisa and its leaning tower, Florence and its museums, Rome and its Colosseum and so on. But very few people have heard of Marina di Pietrasanta and its beach. Marina di Pietrasanta is a wonderful location for a great vacation, almost new to Americans but very familiar to Italians and Northern Europeans. And this is one of those places where you will most likely go back more than once, as do many of our Clients who have literally fallen in love with the charm and exquisite Italian character of this little town. In the 1920s this area became the choice of the affluent Florentine and Milanese families who built summer villas amidst the pine woods of Forte dei marmi and marina di Pietrasanta; even the Savoia Royal Family, who governed Italy at the time, made this Riviera their summer retreat on numerous occasions. After WWII the new class if industrialists such as the Agnellis, Pirelli, and many more, made their own summer residences along this stretch of coast. Today you still will spot many celebrities in the cafes and restaurants of Forte dei Marmi and Marina di Pietrasanta, but the area is mainly the choice of Italian vacationers, and this has maintained a very high quality of service in the restaurants, shops, beach clubs etc. Since most Italians rent vacation properties by the month and by the season, the concept of passing customer, which you will find in more short term oriented tourist spots, is not applicable here; this is clearly to everyone's advantage, including the few short term tourists. |

The beautiful medieval city of Pietrasanta, approximately 4 miles inland from Marina, boasts a truly old tradition in the arts and crafts that use marble as their main material. Michelangelo used to come to Pietrasanta to buy the marble for his sculptures, the famous Pieta' in a sense, originated here. The industrial aspect of this tradition is also a very important part of the local economy. Many buildings all over the world, particularly in the USA and the Far East, are decorated with marble that is shipped from the numerous highly specialised companies based in Pietrasanta.
Many foreign artists have made their residence here, giving the town a Bohemienne feeling, which adds to its already unique charm.
